Welcome to Istanbul Medical Clinic

Rhinoplasty, one of the most popular plastic procedures in the world, may be needed because of both aesthetic concerns and several health issues. Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery performed to reshape the nose. In these operations, the nose can be made bigger or smaller, the angle and distance between the upper lip of the nose can be adjusted, the position of the nose tip can be changed, and the problems caused by any trauma or natural non-aesthetic appearance can be corrected. It can be further divided into open and closed rhinoplasty. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is also possible. A particular technique is chosen via the patient's expectations and needs.

Open Rhinoplasty

In the open rhinoplasty, the incision is made to the tissue that separates the nostrils, called columella. Bone and cartilage can be interfered clearly. Open rhinoplasty provides more convenience and opportunity than closed technique. The inner structure of the nose, the cartilage, and the soft tissue become visible. It is particularly preferred for nasal tip operations and revision rhinoplasty. There is a slight scar in the open rhinoplasty due to the incision in the nasal tip. While these scars heal, they become invisible.

Closed rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty is more advantageous for the patient, but it is a more difficult technique to perform for the doctor. Surgical incisions are made into the nostrils in the closed rhinoplasty. The closed procedure does not require the opening of the nasal skin and soft tissues in the nose. In this way, the skin and soft tissue are much less damaged, and the healing process of the nose is accelerated. There is no possibility of a visible scar in the closed method.

Non-Surgical rhinoplasty

In non-surgical rhinoplasty, the nose is shaped with various filling materials. As the filler material, hyaluronic acid or dermal filler materials obtained from the person's own body are used. While surgical rhinoplasty techniques provide lifetime permanent results, non-surgical rhinoplasty results are temporary. The permanence of the non-surgical rhinoplasty depends on the quality and property of the injection material used.

There are advantages and disadvantages of non-surgical rhinoplasty. Very short application period, no swellings, bruisings or scar, not having a dressing, the patient's ability to return to the daily life immediately after the application bring patient advantages. However, a limited number of problems can be solved with non-surgical rhinoplasty, and the application is not permanent and needs to be repeated periodically.

Don’t forget to ask your doctor what procedure is better for you! The reason that there are different techniques is that there are different patients who have different needs. Doctors know the best for your health and beauty. Before making a decision, consult a doctor!
